Luxury, by Calme Wilma
Luxury,
a house with windows
and a roof that won’t blow,
luxury;
meat in the beans,
gas for the stove,
luxury;
a licensed,
insured,
running car
luxury;
a doctor if my daughter
takes to her bed,
luxury;
a telephone
and friends to call
who also know what’s
luxury;
a garden, some goats,
some scratching hens,
luxury;
clean sun, fresh air
some tea, a chair,
luxury;
the cops
and the county
don’t know your name,
luxury;
in the hills and
in the barrios,
all the same
luxury.
